This workshop encourages Volunteer Involving Organsations to think outside the box, challenge their perceptions about what volunteers can and cannot do.
The topics on the training agenda include:
• What makes a good volunteer opportunity?
• Limits and restrictions on volunteering - thinking about what volunteers can and can’t do and challenging perceptions.
• Developing a wish-list (how the organisation would like to grow and how volunteers could make a contribution to that growth).
• Addressing the need for VIOs to be flexible and consider more short-term, one-off opportunities, as well as longer engagements.
• And, of course, the Big Society and its emphasis on community volunteering.
Course runs from 10:00 to 3:00 with an an additional ‘surgery’ hour for those interested in improving their recruitment advertising copy.
