Health Check

Hand in hand with London’s Volunteer Management Charter is our Volunteer Management Health Check.

What is the Health Check?

It’s a questionnaire that identifies the activities and actions that constitute the key areas of volunteer management.
It was compiled as a result of research and consultation with London’s Volunteer Centres.
It comes in different sizes!  There’s a comprehensive version, as well as shorter versions, so it can be used flexibly and according to need.

I manage volunteers – how will it benefit me?

It will give you lots of ideas about volunteer management – maybe things you haven’t thought about if you’ve only just begun to involve volunteers.
It will tell you the essentials you should have in place.
It will help identify areas you could improve on, using a simple action plan to signpost you to solutions.
If you hope one day to achieve the Investing in Volunteers quality standard, the Health Check will get your organisation thinking and working in the right direction.
It will signal to your volunteers, colleagues, funders and stakeholders that you are serious about implementing good practice.
Volunteer involving organisations in London who have signed up to the Charter have access to one of the Experts in Volunteering team to take them through the Health Check.
Signing up to the Charter and completing a Health Check is free.

What the Health Check isn’t:

A test that you pass or fail.
A fully assessed and accredited quality standard (which can involve a complex and expensive process).
