Experts in Volunteering project update

20 August 2009

Currently the Experts in Volunteering team is consulting Volunteer Centres on our recently developed health check, which was created by collating existing materials from within the VC network and is informed by Investing in Volunteers , Compact principles of volunteering, and GLV’s own Principles of Volunteering. We merged it into one standardised health check that could be used thought out Greater London reflecting and highlighting key areas of volunteer management good practice.

We are also working on developing volunteer management training and the Experts in Volunteering website to support our future outreach work.

About the project

Experts in Volunteering launched on 1 June 2009 to improve volunteering experiences across the capital, whilst establishing a standard Charter of Good Practice for volunteer-involving organisations.

The Experts in Volunteering project is a three-year programme of extra support to deliver standardized good volunteer management advice and training. It will be delivered across Greater London, working closely with Volunteer Centres from all London boroughs.

The project will define volunteering and good practice by developing a Charter, and will support third sector groups to access, interpret and apply information, templates and resources to develop quality volunteering programmes.

Five regional workers will be hosted by Volunteer Centres in 5 geographical locations, responsible for delivering the work in partnership with Volunteer Centres. The South London’s sub regional worker is Marzena Zoladz and she will lead the programme in partnership with the six local Volunteer Centres including Croydon.

Outcomes of the 3-year project include:
